Appold and Sundial Announce Strategic Partnership to Deliver Institutional-Grade Bitcoin Yield Infrastructure

8 July 2025

Appold, the award-winning blockchain advisory firm, today announced a strategic partnership and founding investment in Sundial Protocol, a next-generation infrastructure platform focused on enabling compliant Bitcoin yield at scale. The transaction was undertaken through Appold’s newly established principal-investment technology division.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Bitcoin utility, following the successful execution of the world’s first bridgeless, cross-chain transfer between the Bitcoin and Cardano blockchains in May 2025. The breakthrough was made possible through Sundial’s infrastructure and key ecosystem partnerships.

Sundial Protocol is a programmable layer for all UTxO Chains, allowing Bitcoin holders to generate yield and decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystems to be built on top of Bitcoin. This infrastructure is designed to enable a new phase of Bitcoin utility.

As part of the agreement, Appold will provide strategic guidance and operational support to ensure that Sundial scales rapidly with robust governance and meets the requirements of institutional users.

“We’re building infrastructure to unlock a new phase of Bitcoin yield that is secure, programmable, and accessible,” said Sheldon Hunt, CEO of Sundial. “Appold brings the expertise to ensure we grow with strong governance and institutional credibility.”

“The demand for trusted, compliant Bitcoin infrastructure is growing rapidly,” added Rob Gaskell, a Founder and Partner at Appold. “Sundial’s approach combines innovation with the institutional standards the market now expects.”

As digital asset ecosystems evolve, strategic partnerships between blockchain technology companies and compliance-focused advisors are proving essential in bridging the gap between DeFi innovation and traditional financial market ecosystems.
