🔷 Securitize launched tokenised US equities backed one-for-one by underlying shares. The tokens represent security entitlements under UCC Article 8, preserving applicable dividends and voting rights. Trading begins on Solana through a regulated brokerage infrastructure, with USDC settlement.
Appold View: Investor rights and corporate actions are central to credible equity tokenisation. Securitize has launched through its own regulated broker-dealer, whereas planned NYSE and OKXICE venues could be a subsequent expansion, subject to them launching and accepting the products.
🔷 Standard Chartered announced plans to provide custody services for selected cryptoassets, stablecoins, and tokenised real-world assets for institutional and accredited corporate clients in Singapore. The service, which is subject to regulatory approval, will complement its Financing & Securities Services business, extending capabilities present in the UAE, Luxembourg and Hong Kong.
Appold View: This planned expansion builds on Standard Chartered’s recent move to take full ownership of Zodia Custody and launch crypto trading in Dubai, amid growing institutional demand for digital asset functionality through trusted, bank-grade infrastructure.
🔷 Samsung Electronics is integrating USDC transfers into Samsung Wallet, enabling eligible Galaxy users to send USDC to other wallets and bank accounts from the last week of October. Solana and Sui Foundation will provide network support, while Bastion will provide regulated stablecoin infrastructure and custody through Coinbase Prime Vault, with Coinbase acting as sub-custodian.
Appold View: As competition in stablecoins intensifies, Circle’s access to an estimated 82 million Galaxy users marks a significant win. For Samsung, offering stablecoins through its familiar user interface will allow it to capitalise on the growing consumer demand for stablecoins, without the perceived complexity of handling digital assets.
🔷 The Eurøpe Consortium has launched a euro stablecoin alliance with 11 founding members, including etoro, DFNS and Coinhouse. The group is organised around EURØP, a euro stablecoin issued by Paris-based payments company Schuman Financial.
Appold View: Euro stablecoins have grown by approximately 50% over the past year to €800 million, yet the market still lags far behind USD-denominated stablecoins. These announcements are a meaningful boost for the European market, but it remains to be seen whether European regulation will hold back innovation and adoption too much to realistically create competition.
