Independent Third-Party Assurance Review
Context
A recipient of funds through a decentralised grant programme engaged Appold to conduct an independent third-party assurance review to validate the achievement of its grant milestones and unlock payment.
Appold’s role was to assess the quality of the reporting and supporting evidence of milestone progress and achievement. This included considering whether reported activity aligned with agreed deliverables and provided stakeholders with a reliable and transparent account of progress.
Appold reconciled the organisation’s record of operational and technical workstreams with the deliverables agreed through its milestone framework. Appold scrutinised whether the information presented was complete and accurate across five key areas:
Delivery of the organisation’s administrative mandate.
Development of its operating and budget process for the following year.
Proposals to improve and evolve ecosystem governance.
Coordination of a forthcoming network upgrade.
Support for committees, working groups and member participation.
The completed review provided an independent assessment and identified observations to strengthen the consistency and measurability of future reporting.

Public reporting is central to accountability and good governance within decentralised ecosystems, particularly where organisations are responsible for delivering mandates approved and funded by a broader community.
Publishing progress, however, is only part of the process. Stakeholders must also be able to determine whether reported activity is supported by appropriate evidence, aligned with agreed milestones and communicated clearly. This independent assurance provides an additional layer of confidence while helping the client improve the quality of their reporting over time. In this engagement, Appold combined assurance experience with its deep understanding of blockchain governance and network operations to provide a structured and repeatable assessment of ecosystem delivery.
